Following last year's Grand Final when over 90 people attended, it was rather disappointing that only 50 people attended this year. Indeed, of the 12 clubs who entered films and were eligible for free tickets, only 3 took up the offer. Nevertheless, those who did attend were treated to an entertaining program of films. Apart from the 10 finalists, the other 6 films entered into the Northern heat which didn't quite make it through, were also shown and were well received. Our judges for the Final were Danny Howard and Mike Wood, who are both in the TV industry in the North. |
As usual, we ran our popular Audience Vote competition where they were asked to match the judge's decision. Although the judges were asked to put their top 5 films in order of merit we asked the audience to only match the top 3, to give them a fighting chance. Nobody managed to do that either. Nor did anyone guess the same top 2 films as the judges. The person who got closest to the judge's decision was Gordon Sutton of the Surrey Borders club.
We also asked the audience to guess the theme for this year. Amazingly, 4 people guessed right and after a draw of the correct entries, Mike Turner of Orpington Video & Film Makers came out on top.
