HOTELSIt is important to book quite soon if you want a single room. In mid-September 2011 we are hearing that the Danube Plaza - which is being used by the UNICA committee and the jury - is struggling to meet the demand for bookings, so perhaps you should consider one of the others. The furthest is just 10 minutes walk from the UNICA venue. There are 40 hotels large and small in the town but some still offer the hospitality and comforts of the former communist era the festival team recommend the following ones which have a more modern European style and good reputations. References to "meal discount" probably means that if you take lunch or dinner in the hotel you pay less than people who have just come in to the restaurant from the street. We suggest you explore the many small cafes around the main square. Not all have English speakers on their staff but friendliness, pointing and patting a happily filled tummy do all the necessary communication! |
Danube Plaza
5 Svoboda Square, 7000 Rousse
Two minutes walking from the festival centre, situated in the perfect centre of the city. Restaurants /meal discount/ summer garden, lobby bar, fitness centre. Air-conditioned rooms. Free Wi-Fi. Some visitors suggest avoiding the bland restaurant lunches and dinners! The hotel has a winter refurbishment project running and prefers not to accept bookings until March 2012. By then it should know how many rooms will be ready for use. |
Riga Hotel
22 Pridunavski Blvd, 7000 Rousse
A tower-block, 7-8 minutes walking from the festival centre, with a splendid view of the Danube and the centre of the city, air-conditioning / restaurants /meal discount/, summer garden, lobby bar, fitness centre. |
Bistra & Galina Hotel
8, Khan Asparuh Str, 700 Rousse
4-5 minutes walking from the festival centre, on a quiet street, restaurant /meal discount/, summer garden. |
Anna Palace
4 Kniajeska Str, 7000 Rousse
10 minutes' walk from the festival centre, with a view of the river port and the river, restaurant, bar-aperitif, air-conditioning. It has real history and a lot of charm. |
