A selection of award-winners in the 1998 IAC International Film and Video Competition, premiered at movie 98, held April 17-19, 1998, in Buxton, Derbyshire.

1. FATHER'S CHRISTMAS
Stoke Cine & Video Society
Father (Nigel Peever) is 'caught in the act' on Christmas Eve, putting the presents round the tree, by his two daughters (Amanda and Samantha Banks), but is finally 'rescued' from his predicament ... This is a charming, unsentimental movie, directed by Paul Humphrey.

2. ARTISTIQUE
Ken Wilson (West Yorks)
An amateur cameraman, Phillipe [sic] (Jason Rigby) is discovered by Jaques [sic] (Simon Wilson) while out on a shoot. There then follows a discussion (in pidgin French) about the merits and demerits of various styles and techniques of movie-making - with many lovely 'in' jokes for all movie-makers. Lots of fun (including the accents)!

Two ex-school chums Peter (James Trapmore) and Junie (Hannah Roberts) meet again after a few years and we learn of their respective feelings for each other, both then and now. Well shot and edited, with good atmospheric lighting. Wide-screen format; directed by Richard Jones.
