CINE WINNERS : IAC 1988

CINE is short for the Council on International Non-theatrical Events. This American organisation has introduced specially selected films and videos to scores of international events where they have brought honour to the United States and to their makers. Each year juries across the whole of America choose the CINE Golden Eagles (professional films) and CINE Eagles (amateur films) from more than 700 entries.

1.	MARDI GRAS Richard Lewis (USA) The story of a family's attempt to make sense of the strange incident that surrounds one particular Mardi Gras in rural Louisiana. It was made at the University of S. California's School of Cinema-Television from a screenplay by Ian Kowell, who also co-edited the film with Jeffrey Fine. A 1987 CINE Eagle Film, with original music by Jonathan Baker. Transfer from 16mm film. IAC Best Open Award, Acting/Editing/Story Awards (Open) 1988	Children /Story 20.mins
2.	TELL ME Mary Beth Fielder (USA) Celia, a 12-year-old Catholic schoolgirl, learns about love, loyalty and deception on the night of her first boy-girl party. Another fine drama from the School of Cinema-Television, directed with immense sensitivity and, as an IAC judge put it, '. . . with some inspired human and humorous touches'. A 1987 CINE Eagle Film with original music by Nigel Holton, edited by John Kim and Nick Gregory. Transfer from 16mm film. IAC International Award, Acting/Editing/Sound Awards.
