PhotoShop for Moviemakers
An IAC Training Course
Why should movie makers need a program for adjusting still pictures? Three immediate answers spring to mind:
No doubt you can suggest many more.
Most computer editing sustems come with a program for editing stills. The commonest one seems to be a cut-down ("light") version of Adobe PhotoShop. There is a great deal of functional similarity between most of the main photo editing programs so even if you prefer to use another one the course will still offer valuable advice and ideas.
What is the best way to create a mask to place round or over a video image?
What colours make the best titles?
How can you correct that mistake made in location shooting?
The IAC Photoshop course is to be run at Kodak in Harrow on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 August.
The course will take place in the fully equipped Kodak photoshop room with all computers having either photoshop 5.5 or 6 installed. It doesn't matter if you do not have the latest version yet. The tutor, David Blundell, will be dealing with the basics and you will learn what more the later versions can do.
The course will be limited to 6 people. The cost of the tuition which includes tea, coffe and lunch will be £166 per person for the 2 days. There is no overnight accommodation at Kodak's but .there is a Travel Lodge nearby which charges about £40 per night for a room which is normally the same price whether for one or two people. Breakfast is available at extra cost and so is dinner.
Harrow is not easily reached during the rush hour and anyone intending to attend the course who does not happen to live close to Kodak is recommended to stay at the Travel Lodge. Those of you coming from further than the London area may want to stay at the Travel Lodge the night before as well as at the end of the first day. I will be prepared to make the necessary bookings at the Travel Lodge at your request.
Please let Eric Granshaw (IAC Training Officer) know as soon as possible if you would like one of these places.
