Non-linear editing - using a computer to edit video - allows more freedom to the moviemaker.  But it still takes a great script, careful planning, stylish camera work, first-class sound, top rate performers and painstaking attention to a thousand-and-one details to make a movie worth watching.
Throughout this site you can find hints, tips, ideas and notes from moviemakers.  You can see reports of the awards the best have won.  Most of it is not special to NLE, not special to tape, not special to film.  Making movies is about people not about kit or techniques.
