Do you have home movies of life during World War II?
We are making three documentaries for the BBC about what life was like in World War II for men, women and children seen through their own eyes, rather than government films or newsreel. Shooting The War will be three films about people’s experiences in World War II, paying particular attention to those who filmed home movies themselves, as well as those who featured in them.
We’d very much like to hear from anyone who has home movie of life during this time. Maybe you filmed Home Guard training or had Land Army girls on your farm. Maybe you were lucky enough to borrow a camera and filmed factory workers making plane parts or have film of you as a child helping your parents grow their own vegetables to ease the strain of rationing.

ITV Meridian's ever popular archive series - The Way We Were, is back. It's the show that features high-profile celebrities and anecdotes from yesteryear. If you have any old 'home movies' (copyright free) on cine reels, DVD or VHS we'd love to hear from you. It could feature in the new series. We're interested in everyday life, but we're also very interested in less common themes such as iconic historical events or unusual home movie gems that stand out from the crowd. Lion Television are working on a new 4-part series for Channel 4, called ON TOUR WITH THE QUEEN. They will be following in the footsteps of the Queen's 1953 Tour of the Commonwealth, looking at the effects of Empire on the various locations, both then and now. They hope to use a lot of archive material in the series, and wonder if any of our readers have personal footage that theycould use. I'm seeking any DANCE related clips of 3 - 4 mins duration for our dance tracks to sync with.

We have good dance music to compliment anything related with dance or dancing themes. We currently produce videos for the MTV channels and are seeking anything remotely related to dance.

- featured our Chairman, Linda Gough, on her honeymoon as part of a look at how home movies encouraged Britons to change from vacations at home to package holidays in the Spanish resorts. This fascinating series is doing more and seeks our help. They are hoping to base a documentary around the West Indies cricket tours to England in 1976 and 1984.

Do you have any material directly linked to either of these cricket tours?

The second request is much broader; do you have any material from 1976 or 1984 (or a year or two either side) which reflects the social and historical context of the time. For example any footage of ordinary West Indian life in England during this time.

I represent MP3Unsigned.com a - a music hosting site for unsigned musicians. We have a very active membership here producing a wide arrray of musical genres.

We are not actually selling anything ... most of our Artists would be happy for the experience and credits ... though that would be down to the individuals themselves ... However, the site, as a whole would love to be actively involved in some kind of co-operation with an organisation such as yourselves ... if your members would like to participate on our very active message boards ... If there were a lot of amateur film makers looking for music ... I'm sure we could organise a section where they could discuss their needs with the rest of our community.

As I say, we are really looking for a sympathetic partnership which would fulfill the needs of both. Our members would experience the needs and requirements of working with cinematographers and in turn they could experience working with composers and musicians.

VENUES

Finding UK venues for our national events has been getting harder.  Since many of you attend events run by other organisations, perhaps you can pass on details of any suitable places?

The essential requirements are:

• reasonably accessible from all parts of the country (decent road/rail connections)
• about 80 - 100 bedrooms
• ceilings high enough to allow screens to be raised so that everyone can see
• 4 or 5 rooms suitable for mini cinemas seating about 40 people each
• 1 room large enough to stage the main awards shows (250 people), festival dinner etc.
• a catering facility that allows delegates to be served promptly.
