Mini-dv is a great format but it does not look like much on the shelf.
When I borrowed a movie from Kay Bamford-Burnell recently it arrived looking splendid. In the envelope was a VHS sized plastic box complete with attractive cover and stills from the movie. I assumed she had sent me an S-VHS copy, until I opened it. There lay a thin sheet of polystyrene foam with a neat cut-out just the size of a mini-dv cassette. In it nestled the tape I wanted. That cassette too had an attractive though much simpler cover. A layer of bubble wrap beneath the foam added protection. What a neat, simple and attractive way to give your mini-dv tapes more impact and to use all those spare VHS sized plastic boxes too. - Dave Watterson Oct 2004
