North v South Competition Southern Heat

Around 95 people turned up at Farnborough Village Hall in Kent on Sunday 18th November 2007 to see the Southern Heat of the North v South Competition.
We received 18 entries on the theme ‘Faith, Hope & Charity’ and all were shown on the day together with a couple of promo films and a well received comedy to send the audience hope happy.
Our judges were Harry Lederman, Alan Tutt and Phil Moon, all experienced film makers from Eastbourne & District Camcorder Club. The five films they chose to go forward to represent the South in the Grand Final were:--

1st Place Love in a Box by Wanstead & Woodford CVC Still from 'Love In a Box'. Still from Love In a Box
2nd Place Sex, Lives and Videotape by Derby Movie Makers
3rd Place Dearly Beloved by Nuneaton Moviemakers
4th Place Madame Dupres by Valley Films
5th Place The Chatsworth Arts Centre Story by Wave at Long Eaton

Before the result was announced we held our usual Audience Vote Competition which in previous years has nearly always brought up a different five films. This year, however, the audience picked the same 5 films albeit in a different order. The person who matched the judges decision more closely than anyone else was Basil Doody of Orpington Video and Film Makers.

The Grand Final will be held at the same venue on Sunday 27th January 2008. Doors open 2.30pm for a 3.00pm start.

As well as the 10 winning films from the North and South, we will be showing the rest of the Northern entries together with additional films not associated with the competition.

Everyone is welcome and should you require any more details, please call me on 01424 220391 . I look forward to seeing you there.

Mike Coad - on behalf of Orpington Video & Film Makers.

BIAFF 2007
Leaflet promoting BIAFF 2007. SERIAC hosted IAC's annual competition in 2007. (That meant postponing SERIAC's own festival to March 2008 - see above.)

SERIAC officers found two attractive venues in Royal Tunbridge Wells: The Wellington Hotel and The High Rocks Inn. The hotel provided delegate accomodation and the mini-cinemas. The Inn provided the setting for the festival dinner and Sunday's Gala Awards show. Buses transported delegates from one to the other.

SERIAC also produced an attractive short film highlighting the attractions of the area and the venues. To see it online - click here.
