CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE

Lincoln Amateur Film Society

Joan Hamilton (Marguerite Gravell) is celebrating her 21st birthday. Hubert Morgan (Maurice Hewis) is in love with her, but she loves Frank (Arthur E. Morton). For her birthday she receives (among other gifts) a bracelet and a string of pearls. During a garden party/dance, Hubert manages to remove the pearls from their box and 'plant' them on Frank. When they are missed, and subsequently found, Frank is naturally accused. But there has been a witness to what Hubert has done ... A newly restored transfer from 9.5mm film, of the only work completed by this Society during its short history, directed by Bernard Morton.
Discovered some 60 years after it was made in 1933, it remains, despite some technical shortcomings, a fine record of the fashions and styles of the period.
With thanks to Peter Ryde, FACI, for making this available to the IAC Film & Video Library.
