BIAFF 1994 Awards Selection 1

All five of the videos in this selection were shown in the movie 94 Premiere programme on Sunday, April 10, l994, at Keele University, Staffordshire.

2. TEMPTATION

We first meet John (Tim Bizley) as a pop-star who has been overcome by drugs and drink. Twelve years later, we find him a changed man - a dull, unimaginative village parson. This new life is not the kind of existence welcomed by his wife, Mary (Violetta Glazewska), and when she meets Nigel (Robin Mukherjee) she is tempted to have an affair ...  Directed by Oscar Riesel.

3. KEEPER OF THE LIGHT

A warm-hearted, amusing documentary in which Handel Bluer, BEM, as his retirement day approaches in May 1993, reminisces about the isolated, south-west of England lighthouses he has looked after as keeper since 1956. Filmed at Pendeen Light-house, Cornwall.

4. FRANZI
St. Cuthbert Films (Newcastle-on-Tyne)
The story is set in Hitler's Germany in the early 40s. Young brothers Josef (Jonathan Swales) and Franzi (Mark Friend) had been orphaned when their parents were killed in a car crash. They live on a farm with their uncle, Ernst Bruchner (David Peffer). Herr Zeitler (Ben Anderson) arrives to take away Franzi to the concentration camp at Hadamar, but Josef makes a desperate attempt to save his brother from this fate.
