The logo of the festival. Abstracta - Rome

Closing : 30 June 2011
Festival: 14-16 September 2011

In mid-January 2012 there was no news of the 2012 event.
Makers of abstract and experimental films or AV Sequences often feel their work is not understood or valued properly in regular festivals. This event is specially for such work. The organisers define abstract cinema as the one "that doesn’t tell stories."

When possible they organise screenings and festivals in other countries based on the winners of each festival. Recent winners were seen in Rome, Bangkok and Vienna.

No matter how the movies or sequences were originated the festival needs the work on DVD in PAL format. Work should usually be less than 5 minutes long.

There is no entry fee. For forms and details see their website - click the Union Jack for the English text. Follow the 'To Participate' link to reach a downloadable entry form.
