Eulenspiegeleien,
Berlin-Köpenick, Germany
Closing :12 December 2011 The timing and arrangements are similar each year. The name is a set of puns around "Till Eulenspiegel" (the rascal character celebrated in Richard Strauss's tone-poem) and "fried owl's eggs" - hence the owl logo. You might guess that the event is devoted to humour and satire. The festival is held in the Penta Hotel, Berlin-Köpenik, Grünauer Straße 1, 12557 Berlin. This is also a change of venue. The organisers apologise for the changes. It is organised by FiVia Club. Even the rules and forms are funny. They prefer films not more than 3 years old and up to 20 minutes long, but explain: "Of course, when the quality is extremely high, the organisers can change the rules ! " There is a pre-selection process and then the films selected for presentation will be judged in public by an independent jury. There is no entry fee but if you want your tape back you must enclose international post vouchers. The festival starts at 8pm Friday and finishes at midday Sunday. Their technicians request that all videos to be screened are sent in a copyright-free format that is capable of being shown in "HD" onto the screen. We would prefer that you send a computer file, e. g. *.avi, *.vob, *.mpg, *. m2t, on any form of electronic storage medium (DVD, CD, SD-card, USB-stick) or up to 10 MB by e-mail. All films shown will receive a certificate and for the makers of the best films, prizes will be awarded. Though this popular event attracts a sophisticated crowd who usually have good English, the language of the festival is German. Your entry should not depend on English puns. If you wish to attend you'll be made very welcome indeed, but should have some knowledge of German to follow all the jokes in the films and the announcements. Double rooms cost 79 Euros a night, single ones cost 6o Euros per night - in both cases for bed and breakfast. The festival makes small charges for evening events. In recent years several UK films have done well there including Extinction Event , Dropping Off, The Remote Control and Stripped. Their website has a section in English and you can download the forms.
