Albany film Competition
21st March 2004

This year the Albany film Competition between Sussex film and Video Clubs was hosted by Haywards Heath Cine and Video Society at the Plumpton Green Village Hall on the 21st March.

The Competition is for films made to a theme which should have been made specially for the competition, one of the competition's objects is to encourage the making of club films. The 2004 theme was "where are we going".

The Judges were Alan Readman, an archivist with the West Sussex Record office and a member of the advisory board for the South East Film and Video Archive. Sylvia Collier who works in Television as a Producer/Director. Bryan Harrison, Chairman of Surrey Border Film and Video Makers.

This year the Competition was won by Portsdown Camcorder User's Club with their Entry Scoop - A science fiction story about a reporter who thinks he has uncovered the big scoop that will make him rich.

Portsdown Camcorder User's Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday each month at the red Cross Hut, Emsworth House Close, Emsworth at 7:30 p. m. As Winners the Club has to host the competition next year. Malcolm Smith writes:

"We will shortly be writing to all of the clubs that we know of in the counties of East and West Sussex to invite them to enter. If you are a new film making group or club and are interested in entering the competition then please contact me at the address below for more information and a copy of the rules."

The theme for 2005 is "A Piece of cake" and the theme for 2006 will be "Reflections".
