 Victor Hugo Competition

Peter and Richard Rouillard, Joan Ozanne and the team do it again ... and with an additional competition too.

Guernsey has an excellent reputation as the friendliest and most relaxing festival of them all. What a chance to escape to a lovely island 80 miles from the South Coast of England ... and see some of the best amateur movies of the moment.  This is a festival established by two fine amateur movie makers.  Famous for their forthright written comments on entries and for their warm, welcoming nature they offer movie makers an honest response to and a fine celebration of their work.  Young, old or in-between you and your films will find a good home for a weekend ... or longer ... in this temperate island.

A hotel booking form can be downloaded with bargain rates not only during the Festival but for nights on either side of it if you want to take a break.

Victor Hugo Bicentenary Competition

To celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Victor Hugo in 1802 the organisers are inviting film makers to enter a competition relating to Hugo.  He lived in Guernsey for a number of years during his exile from France.

Several of Hugo's books are located in the island.  Films must relate to his life in Guernsey in some way but need not be filmed on the island.  The organisers are sure there are enterprising film makers who will welcome the challenge.

The rules for the Guernsey Lily competition will apply but the closing date for entries is the 30th June 2002.  There will be a trophy for the winner together with £500 and prizes for the firdst two runners-up.

Further information on the life of Victor Hugo can be obtained on a number of websites including http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/vhugo.htm
