BIAFF on a Budget

While most visitors enjoy the comfort and convenience of staying in the hotel where the shows take place (being able to wear carpet slippers all weekend for example!) you can keep costs down.

  • Choose what you want to attend:
    • Book "non-resident" tickets using the form (above). Friday night's AV show costs £3. Films on Saturday (9.30am to about 5.30pm) £11. Awards Winners Show on Sunday (9.30am to about 6pm) £11. Buy both Saturday+Sunday for the bargain price of £20. Note that these rates include teas/coffees at the breaks but no other meals.
    • Under-18s have even better rates: Friday night £1.50. Saturday films £5.50. Sunday films £5.50. Saturday+Sunday £10. Note that these rates include teas/coffees at the breaks but no other meals.
  • Note that films stop late on Saturday afternoon so consider a Saturday night in Cambridge or London to see a concert or show ... but watch the travel times.
  • Seek out cheaper accomodation within easy walking distance: try www.activbedford.com, www.bedandbreakfasts.co.uk and www.bedandbreakfast-directory.co.uk for a start.
  • Check out public-transport travel options on transport-direct website.
  • Buy food at local shops and picnic. On Saturday a wide range of take-aways, bakeries and supermarkets is available. On Sunday there is less choice but some places are open. Some pubs offer bargain meals.
